Before and after. The before was actually after using a headlight restoration kit. Had to use more desperate measures to restore these lamps.

Update: I ended up buying automotive finishing sand paper. Started with 400, 800, then 1000. Then i followed it up with MqGuires compound (would have started with Scratch-X if i had any on hand), then the Mother's headlight restorer Polish. I was using a ball and drill too, of course.

What did you use? I recently used one of those restoration kits on my car and didn't quite get the results I wanted.

Restoration kits are just glorified, light-duty wet-sanding kits. I imagine you can just go rougher on your own and then work it back into a smooth, transparent finish, much like the clear-coat on paint.
